About This Call
The Loveland Artist Collective invites artists to explore love through the Steampunk genre. Steampunk has its roots in the romantic Victorian age and expresses a desire to move beyond common culture through futuristic usage of machinery grounded in 19th-century technology. The exhibition will feature work responding to the concept of love as expressed in selected quotes.
Artists will be on display at the 4th St. Gallery in downtown Loveland during February. The exhibit will be promoted and included in the Loveland Sweetheart Festival (2/8-9), which is expected to bring 35,000 visitors along with normal foot traffic Loveland receives during this month. The show will be juried by renowned Steampunk artist Ed Kidera. Accepted artists must deliver work by 2/3/19. The exhibit runs 2/8-28, with a Sweetheart Festival Night on the Town Reception on 2/8/19. All unsold art should be returned to the artist by 3/30/19.
Eligibility: Open to artists residing within the continental US and over age 18. Both 2D and 3D work are eligible. Entry fee is $30.00 (non-refundable). Submit 1-5 images. 2D work can be no larger than 36" x 36"; 3D work can be no larger than 60" x 48" x 24" and less than 50 lbs. 2D artwork must be wired to hang with finished edges. 3D work must be stable and able to sit on pedestals provided by the gallery. This is a family-friendly exhibit; content must be appropriate for all ages. Awards: $100 for Best piece without a "gear on it," $100 for Best functional work, $100 for People's choice. Sales occurring during the show will be run through the Loveland Artists Collective with a 25% commission taken and 75% going to the artist. Sales checks will be mailed within 30 days of the exhibit closing date. Artists will be notified of application status via email on 1/22/19.
