About This Call
The Louisiana Crafts Guild is a juried organization of fine crafts artisans located throughout Louisiana and the southern region of the United States. Membership is open to traditional and contemporary 3D artists in all styles and mediums, as well as printmakers, photographers, and painters whose work represents and evokes the cultural traditions of Louisiana.
Applicants may work in the following categories: Folk Craftsmen (traditional crafts including ritual and festive crafts, native American crafts, domestic crafts, folk instruments, and rural occupational crafts) and Contemporary & Revivalist Craftsmen (clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood, mixed media). The Louisiana Life category accepts painting and photography that represent and evoke the urban and rural cultures and traditions of Louisiana.
Members receive access to exclusive opportunities including consignment at guild galleries in Lafayette and New Orleans, satellite galleries across the state, participation in festivals and markets, and exposure through the guild's ties to regional arts organizations. Members also receive a 10% discount at guild galleries and access to artist resources and workshops. Annual membership is $120. The non-refundable application fee is $30. Applicants must submit 5 images. A high standard of excellence is maintained, and members' work is subject to review at all guild events. Only work originally submitted for application review is eligible for exhibit.
