About This Call
The Louisiana Crafts Guild is a juried organization of fine crafts artisans located throughout Louisiana and the southern region of the United States. Membership is open to artists working in folk craftsmen and contemporary/revivalist craftsmen categories, including work in clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood, mixed media, papercraft, painting, and photography. Folk craftsmen maintain traditional crafts learned within their community, while contemporary and revivalist craftsmen have acquired knowledge through books, workshops, or education.
The Louisiana Crafts Guild accepts work in the following categories: Folk Craftsmen (ritual and festive crafts, Native American crafts, domestic crafts, folk instruments, and rural occupational crafts) and Contemporary & Revivalist Craftsmen (clay, fiber, glass, metal, wood, mixed media, and papercraft). A Louisiana Life category is also available for painting and photography representing urban and rural cultures and traditions of Louisiana.
Membership benefits include access to a community of artists and crafts people across Louisiana and the Southern United States, member-exclusive exhibition opportunities, and access to member galleries in Lafayette and New Orleans where members can sell work on commission. Additional satellite galleries are located in Alexandria and Morgan City. Members receive exposure through the Guild's ties to regional arts organizations, access to artist resources and workshops, and a 10% discount at Guild galleries. The membership entry fee is $30.00. Applicants must submit 5 images of their work. Application deadlines are April 15, July 15, October 15, and December 15, with acceptances notified within one month of each deadline.
