Louisiana Contemporary, Presented by the Helis Foundation

Louisiana Contemporary, Presented by the Helis Foundation is an annual statewide, juried exhibition hosted by the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in connection with Whitney White Linen Night. Established in 2012, the exhibition promotes contemporary art practices in Louisiana and provides exhibition space for living artists' work. The 2020 juror is René Morales, Director of Curatorial Affairs and Chief Curator at Pérez Art Museum Miami.

Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years and older residing in Louisiana (must provide valid Louisiana address). All work must be original and completed within the last two years (2018-2020). Work previously exhibited in Louisiana Contemporary should not be resubmitted. All media are eligible, though work using hazardous materials will not be accepted. Work must not exceed 70 lbs in weight or 6 feet in any direction. 2D work must be ready for installation with appropriate hardware. 3D work must include all materials required for installation. New media objects must provide all mechanics for display.

Entry fee is $40 (permits three entries, three pieces per entry). Additional submissions are $10 each. Online entries close at 11:59 p.m. Central Time on June 26, 2020. Mailed entries must be postmarked by June 26, 2020. Notification of accepted entries will be sent via email the week of July 20, 2020. Accepted works must be received at the museum no later than 5 p.m. on August 14, 2020. Cash awards will be presented for first, second, and third prize, with the Best in Show recipient receiving The Helis Foundation Art Prize of $5,000.
