About This Call
The City of Lafayette Arts & Cultural Resources Department is hosting a Call for Entry for Lost & Found: Art with Found Objects, a group exhibition featuring artwork made by Colorado artists from found and/or recycled, repurposed materials. The exhibit will hang at The Collective Community Arts Center from June 28 – August 13, 2023.
Aligning with the City of Lafayette's mission of sustainability and waste reduction, the exhibition seeks artists skilled in the use of varied, somewhat unexpected materials. Artwork should demonstrate the importance of conserving limited natural resources and present the artist's intention or concept using media relating to the upcycle and recycle movement. Entries must incorporate at least 50% recycled, repurposed, or reused materials. The theme of each artwork is open. Both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works will be considered, with approximately 30 pieces of wall-hung works and 10–12 sculpture or 3-dimensional works selected for exhibition. All works must be appropriate for all ages viewing. The exhibit will be juried by a panel of Arts staff and one City of Lafayette Waste Reduction Advisory Committee representative.
Eligibility is limited to Colorado-based artists. There is no entry fee required. Artists must submit 3–5 JPG images of their work, artwork information (title, size, date, media), a list of recycled/repurposed materials used, and an artist's statement focused on the work submitted. Artwork delivery is required by Monday, June 26 (4–6 p.m.) or Tuesday, June 27 (9 a.m.–noon). The exhibit reception is Friday, June 30 (6–8 p.m.), and artwork pickup is Monday, August 14 (9 a.m.–5 p.m.). Wall-hung works must have sturdy hanging wire or D-rings compatible with the city gallery system and not exceed 40 pounds. 3-dimensional works must be sturdy and stand on their own or have a display stand. Sales must be processed directly with the artist.
