Los Angeles County: Resource List of Pre-Qualified Artists

The Los Angeles County Arts Commission's Civic Art Program is establishing a Resource List of Pre-Qualified Artists to select artists for civic art projects across County facilities including libraries, courts, fire stations, parks, jails, and health clinics. Projects range in size from $30,000 to $300,000+ and are anticipated to include at least 15 new projects each year.

This call is open to professional emerging and established visual artists and artist teams with no geographic limits. Artists working in all media are encouraged to apply. Selection criteria include: quality and strength of artwork as demonstrated in visual submissions, with preference for hand-made and hand-executed works; a proven track record of artistic merit demonstrated through education, experience, and critical or professional recognition; ability to engage and collaborate with government and community stakeholders including oversight committees, architects, engineers, contractors, and community constituents; and a strong interest in artwork that is sustainable or expresses principles of sustainability. Artists who reside in the western United States are especially encouraged to apply.

Applications must be submitted through the CAFÉ online application system by February 18, 2009. Applicants must submit 15 images. An application workshop will be held at the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, 1055 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 800, Los Angeles, CA 90017 on Thursday, January 22, 2009, 3:30–5:00 pm.
