Looks Good on Paper

Gallery One Visual Arts Center announces their ninth national juried call for artworks featuring paper as a primary medium. Entries will be accepted from across the nation and juried by Janice LaVerne Baker and Lehuauakea for a month-long exhibition in March 2024 in their Main Gallery in downtown Ellensburg, WA. Examples of work that would feature paper include collage, handmade paper, origami, woven or cast paper sculptures, drawings featured on paper, and video art including paper.

Entry fee is $20 for the first entry and $10 for each additional entry. Submit up to six images and/or three videos for consideration. Awards totaling $800 will be distributed by the jurors: $300 for most innovative work depicting paper as a medium, $200 for best 2D use of paper, $200 for best 3D use of paper, and $100 for award of merit. Jury result notifications will be sent via email by February 5, 2024. The exhibition runs March 1-30, 2024, with an opening reception on March 1 during Ellensburg First Friday Art Walk (5-7pm).

Open to all artists 18 years and older residing in the USA. All work must have been completed within the last five years. Works valued at $10,000 or more will not be accepted. Artists are responsible for round trip shipping and insurance of artworks. Gallery One will insure accepted artworks for the artist's commission value (60% of retail value) while on the premises. Artists who list work for sale will receive a 60% commission of the retail value via check within a month after the close of the show.
