About This Call
Logan City is seeking submissions from artists and artist teams to create a mural for the Children's Area of the new Logan Library. The mural will be 176 square feet and located on the interior north wall of the first floor. The new Logan Library is currently under construction at its location on Main Street and will serve as a community-centered gathering place with a children's area designed for kids to read, play, and learn.
The selection committee, consisting of members of the Logan City Public Art Advisory Board and other appointed members, will review applications and select semi-finalists to submit design proposals. All semi-finalists will receive a $100 honorarium to help defray proposal development costs, which will be applied toward the final commission amount. Artists will be selected based on artistic excellence, demonstration of skill and quality craftsmanship, and the strength and originality of their concept. The total project budget is $7,500.
Applications must include: a Vision Statement (maximum 2000 characters) describing the artist's interest and ideas for the project; digital images of similar public art projects (no more than 10); a current resume outlining professional accomplishments; and three professional references with contact information. Semi-finalists will be invited to submit a design proposal including a project proposal, timeline, budget, and one to four images or renderings of proposed work. This call is open to all artists, with preference given to regional artists residing within 500 miles of Logan. Artist team members must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
