Local Colors

This exhibition is open to all current MidAmerica Pastel Society members 18 years old or older. Artwork's final surface must be at least 80% soft pastel with no oil pastels. Only original artwork is eligible; work done under supervision in a class or workshop, and work done from photographs other than the artist's own are ineligible. Work must have been completed within the last 3 years and not have been shown in any previous MAPS exhibit. All subjects and styles, including tasteful nudes, are eligible, subject to the juror's discretion. The juror's decision on all entries is final; only juror-selected works will be exhibited.

Entry fees are $35 for the first image and $5 each for images 2-5, with a maximum of 5 image entries per artist. Entries must be submitted by September 12, 2023, and payment must be received by the deadline for entries to be complete. Submit original, high-quality JPEG image files at least 1200 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Crop images to show only the artwork without matting, frames, or background. Changes and additions can be made to entries until the deadline.

The exhibition will be available online at midamericapastel.com beginning October 17, 2023. Awards include First Place ($500), Second Place ($400), Third Place ($300), 3 Awards of Merit ($200 each), 2 Honorable Mentions ($100 each), and an Emerging Artist Award ($100).
