About This Call
Living in Color - Functional & Decorative Art for the Home is a national exhibition to be held at the Kavanagh Gallery of Fine Line Creative Arts Center in St. Charles, Illinois, running July 6 – August 13, 2020. This show will exhibit work that expresses the relationships and effects of color in daily lives through objects and images in homes. All media are accepted, including functional items that combine beauty and utility as well as non-functional works expressing themes of domestic life in a colorful, vibrant way.
Artists 18 years and older who work and reside in the United States are invited to submit original artwork. Up to 3 pieces may be submitted per entry with a non-refundable entry fee of $35. Work must be original, completed within the last two years, and not previously shown at Fine Line. All pieces must be for sale. The Kavanagh Gallery Committee will curate the show, and the judge will be determined. Jury decisions are based on creativity, quality of artistry, and originality as represented in submitted images. Artists will be notified of jury decisions on or before May 23, 2020. Awards totaling $800 in prizes will be given.
Fine Line will handle all sales, sales tax, and provide artists with payment after the show ends. A sales commission of 30% will be charged for any artwork sold. Artist attendance at the opening reception is strongly encouraged but not mandatory. Fine Line is responsible for show installation, the opening reception, and sales. Artists must submit an artist statement limited to 1000 characters, which will be displayed during the show. Artwork must be shipped to and from Fine Line by the artist, with delivery of shipped work between June 17-29, 2020, and hand delivery by June 30, 2020. The show opening and reception is Friday, July 10, 2020, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Exhibited work cannot be removed from the gallery until August 15, 2020.
