Live Painting Competition: Cash Prizes

K12 Gallery & TEJAS is calling Ohio artists to participate in the 7th Annual Art Off Competition & Fundraiser, a dynamic live painting competition. Artists will compete in an Iron Chef-style format, with 18 selected artists painting live for 2½ hours. Each artist will create a painting representing one of the sponsored still life setups that will be displayed during the event.

Competitors will have the opportunity to arrive two hours before the event start time to select a pre-framed and pre-primed painting surface, choose their easel location, and begin preliminary sketches. Three winners will be selected based on finished artwork: first place receives $250 cash, second place $150, and third place $100. All three winners will also receive a hand-forged metal trophy ("knot award") created by artist Hamilton Dixon, each valued at over $1,000. All paintings created during the competition will be auctioned off in a silent auction during the event.

The competition takes place on Saturday, November 4th from 6:00-8:30pm. Eligibility is limited to artists residing in Ohio and over the age of 18. Applicants should submit one to three images of recent paintings in a style they anticipate working from during the event. Entry fee is $15.00.
