About This Call
Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport (LIT) is commissioning an artist or artist team for a site-specific wall-mounted artwork or installation project in the recently renovated airport. The artwork will be located on a prominent curved wall in the concourse exit, approximately 31'6" long and 7'4" tall, highly visible to passengers arriving at the airport. The project should celebrate the natural beauty of the region and welcome people to Little Rock and Arkansas.
The selected artist will receive a design fee of $10,000, with an additional estimated budget of $90,000 for fabrication and installation to be paid by the Airport. The artwork must be made of durable, low-maintenance materials and designed so it can be removed and reinstalled if future airport construction changes the wall. Up to three finalists will be selected to develop concept proposals and will each receive a $1,200 stipend. Finalists will present their proposals to the Art Committee, which will recommend a selection to LIT.
To be eligible, artists must currently reside in Arkansas or have lived, worked, or studied in the state. Submissions are due August 23, 2020. Required materials include a statement of interest (no more than 500 words), a brief description of connection to Arkansas (no more than 25 words), CV/resume (PDF, no more than 3 pages), names and contact information for 3-5 professional references (PDF), and up to 10 sample images of previous artwork (JPEG) with corresponding image information including title, description, medium, completion date, dimensions, location, and budget/cost.
