About This Call
Texas Photographic Society announces Listening to the Land, a photo exhibition juried by Joel Salcido, renowned fine art photographer and former photojournalist based in San Antonio, Texas.
Listening to the Land seeks photographic-based work that spotlights the evolution of Texas' natural resources, geography, agriculture and ecological environment while also capturing the essence of its rural communities. The exhibition challenges photographers to examine how the landscape has evolved, how rural life has changed, and the impact of land use, extraction of resources, and human effects on rural lands. Photographs should provide evidence of listening and responding to changes, adaptations and shifts in the land and environment. All photographic-based work is welcome including digital, silver and alternative processes.
The exhibition is open to artists at least 18 years old, of all levels internationally. Works exhibited previously in a TPS show are not eligible. Current TPS Board members may enter but are not eligible for awards. Submit 5-12 JPG images (minimum 1200 pixels on longest side, 5 MB maximum). Entry fee is $30 for members or $38 for non-members for 5 images, plus $6 for each additional image. The juror will select 50 images for exhibition. Awards: First Place $500, Second Place $300, Third Place $200, and up to 5 Honorable Mentions. Selected images will be showcased on the TPS website gallery and displayed at Studio Gallery at Landmark Arts, Texas Tech University School of Art in Lubbock, Texas (June 5 - July 31, 2020). Exhibition opening reception is June 5, 4-6 p.m.
