About This Call
The Elisabeth Jones Art Center seeks artwork celebrating landmarks along the California, Oregon, and Washington coastline, from the Mexican/California border to the Canadian border. The exhibition focuses on specific, recognizable landscapes—places that are uniquely recognizable and loved. Accepted media include painting, drawing, and printmaking. Artwork should focus on distinct and identifiable landmarks rather than generic images of rocks or waves. Examples of eligible locations include Olympic National Park and Hollywood Beach in Washington; Bastendorff, Whiskey Run, Cape Arago, and Sunset Bay in Oregon; and Mavericks, Steamer Lane, Capitola, Morro Bay, and numerous beaches in California.
Submissions should include high-quality images of up to 10 works with information about medium and dimensions. The entry fee is $15.00. Three cash awards will be given: $250 for first place, $200 for second place, and $150 for third place, selected by curators John Teply (Executive Director) and Inga Hazen (Director of Exhibitions). Jury selections will be made by July 3rd, 2021, with work due by August 15th, 2021. The in-gallery exhibition runs September 2nd through November 22nd, with an online exhibition running September 16th through November 22nd.
Accepted artwork must be shipped or hand-delivered to The Elisabeth Jones Art Center in Portland, Oregon by August 15th, 2021, properly framed and ready to install. Artists are responsible for shipping costs; the gallery covers return shipping of unsold works. All accepted artwork will be offered for sale on consignment: artists receive 50% of the sales price, the gallery receives 40%, and 10% is donated to an organization of the artist's choice.
