About This Call
The Lighthouse ArtCenter of Tequesta, Florida presents its 9th Annual Lighthouse ArtCenter Plein Air Festival, March 27th–April 2nd, 2022. This juried competition is a five-day plein air paint out taking place in Palm Beach and Martin Counties, Florida, featuring locations in Jupiter, Juno Beach, Port Salerno, and Palm Beach with park settings, ocean views, vintage Floridian architecture, and the Jupiter Lighthouse.
Artists must submit four samples of their best plein air work for juried consideration. The competition is open to all artists working with oil, acrylic, watercolor, or pastels. Selected juried artists will compete for $15,000 in cash and prizes, with a Grand Prize of $4,000 cash plus additional prizes. The event includes a Paint Out contest on Sunday, March 27th (first prize $500, with awards for both Professionals and Open Class; no entry fee for juried artists). There will be 30 juried artists participating. The festival features five days and nights of painting with opportunities for sunrises, sunsets, and nocturnes, an Artist Orientation and Welcome Dinner, a Collectors' Party and Sale, a small works sale, and a live painting event. Artists are encouraged to bring two never-before-exhibited paintings to be displayed in the Schorr Gallery. Entry fee is $40. Artists selected to participate will receive detailed information after August 31st, 2021 notification.
Artists will receive 60% of sales with a 40% commission to the Lighthouse ArtCenter. Art must remain on display through the duration of the festival unless sold. Unsold artwork must be removed by 5 p.m. on April 2nd, 2022. A storage fee of $5 per day applies to works not picked up by that deadline; after 30 days, artwork becomes property of the ArtCenter. The event is open to international artists.
