Lighthouse ArtCenter 12th Annual Plein Air Festival

The Lighthouse ArtCenter of Tequesta, Florida presents its 12th Annual Plein Air Festival, March 2-8, 2025. This juried event is the largest of its kind in South Florida. The five-day plein air paint out and competition takes place in Palm Beach and Martin Counties, with painting locations in Jupiter, Juno Beach, Port Salerno, and Palm Beach, featuring park settings, ocean views, vintage Floridian architecture, and the Jupiter Lighthouse.

Juried artists compete for $15,000 in cash and prizes, including a Grand Prize of $4,000. The festival includes a Paint Out contest on Sunday, March 2 (first prize $500, with separate awards for Professionals and Open Class), with no entry fee for juried artists. Artists will paint for five days and nights with opportunities for sunrise, sunset, and nocturne painting. The event features an Artist Orientation and Welcome Lunch, Collectors' Party and Sale, small works sale, and live painting event (Battle of the Brushes). Artists selected to participate receive dedicated sales staff support and national promotional advertising in Plein Art and Fine Art Connoisseur Magazines, as well as state and regional publications. The ArtCenter provides housing assistance through its Host Housing Program.

Artists must submit four samples of their best plein air work for juried consideration. The competition is open to all artists working with oil, acrylic, watercolor, or pastels. Entry fee is $45. Artists selected will be notified by September 6, 2024. Artists receive 60% of sales, with 40% commission to the Lighthouse ArtCenter. Unsold artwork must be removed by 3 p.m. on March 8, 2025; storage fees of $5 per day apply after that time.
