About This Call
The Lighthouse ArtCenter of Tequesta, Florida presents its 11th Annual Plein Air Festival, March 3-9, 2024. This juried event is a premiere gathering and the largest of its kind in South Florida. Juried artists will compete for $15,000 in cash and awards, including a Grand Prize of $4,000 cash plus additional prizes. The competition is open to all artists working with oil, acrylic, watercolor, or pastels.
Artists must submit four samples of their best plein air work to be considered for inclusion in this five-day event. The festival takes place across multiple locations in Jupiter, Juno Beach, Port Salerno, and Palm Beach, featuring park settings, ocean views, vintage Floridian architecture, and the Jupiter Lighthouse. Selected artists will paint for five days and nights with opportunities to paint sunrises, sunsets, and nocturnes. The event includes a Paint Out contest on Sunday, March 3 (first prize $500, with separate awards for Professionals and Open Class; no entry fee for juried artists), artist orientation and welcome lunch, collectors' party and sale, small works sale, and a live painting event called Battle of the Brushes. The Lighthouse ArtCenter provides housing assistance through its Host Housing Program.
Entry fee is $40. Artists must submit 1-3 images. The application deadline is September 1, 2023, with notification of acceptance on September 9, 2023. Artists selected to participate will receive a detailed information booklet after notification. Artists receive 60% of sales, with 40% commission to the Lighthouse ArtCenter. Unsold artwork must be removed by 5 p.m. on March 9, 2024; storage fees of $5 per day apply after that date. The event is promoted through Plein Air & Fine Art Connoisseur Magazines and regional publications.
