Life in Ink 2025

Life in Ink is a juried exhibition themed around the history and artistry of tattoo. The exhibition invites artists to submit work that embodies the look, feel, and spirit of tattoo, whether inspired by traditional tattoo aesthetics or work that could translate directly onto the skin. Artists are encouraged to showcase creations that celebrate tattoo art's creativity, diversity, and depth, from American Traditional and West Coast Chicano styles to other approaches. Tattoo artists, working and retired, are especially encouraged to submit original artwork. Any medium is welcome. Artists should approach traditional practices with respect and cultural sensitivity, refraining from appropriating sacred symbols or traditions that are not theirs to claim.

Submissions are open to artists everywhere. All artwork must be original and completed within the last two years, and cannot have been previously exhibited at Blue Line Arts. Artists must be 18 years or older. The entry fee is $25 for non-members ($5 each for additional images up to 10 total), or free for current Blue Line Arts Artist Members ($75 or above). Submissions must include 1-10 images renamed in the format: ArtistName-ArtworkTitle.jpeg. All 2-D works must be ready to hang and able to fit through doors with 94"h x 91"w clearance. Nothing over 60 lbs will be accepted. All artwork must be for sale.

The exhibition runs from August 16 to September 27, 2025. The application deadline is June 7, 2025 at 5:00pm PST. Notifications will be sent by June 21, 2025. Artwork must be shipped to Blue Line Arts by August 3, 2025, or hand-delivered August 10-11, 2025. The opening reception is August 16, 2025. Blue Line Arts handles all sales transactions; non-member artists receive 50% commission and members receive 60% commission.
