About This Call
Gallerium presents Life and Death - 2024, the 2nd annual juried exhibition and publication opportunity exploring these two universal cyclical phenomena. Life and Death have been central themes throughout art history, appearing in rituals, signs, icons, and colors across cultures. Life is traditionally interpreted as beginning, birth, and fresh start, encompassing new birth, flourishing, everyday life, and still life. Death refers to the end and encompasses sadness, vulnerability, and the acceptance of mortality, visualized through various artistic approaches from forceful and grim to serene and beautiful.
Artists are encouraged to submit original 2D or 3D abstract and representational artworks interpreting life and death. Possible themes include: Cycle of Life (depicting interconnectedness of birth, growth, and rebirth), Mortality and Immortality (exploring enduring impact), Ephemeral Beauty (reflecting on transient existence), Cultural Perspectives (beliefs, rituals, and traditions), and Metaphysical and Spiritual Dimensions (where boundaries between life and death blur).
Selected artworks will be showcased in the Life and Death 2024 international online group exhibition from July 8 to September 8, 2024, and published in The Book of Arts: Life and Death series. A subset of selected artworks will be published in the book, available in free online and paid print-on-demand versions. Selected artworks will be promoted for sales via the online exhibition link. All selected artworks and artists will be published in an exhibition catalogue in online and print versions. Additional benefits include digital exhibition poster, social media promotional badges, artwork ratings and comments from visitors, exhibition promotion, analytics reports, possible magazine publication, free artist profile page on Biafarin platform, and digital certificate.
Submission is free. Selected artists pay a USD 40 selection fee (USD 34 early bird). Each artist can submit up to 6 artworks; maximum 2 artworks are accepted. The opportunity is open to all visual artists worldwide working in any art medium. A two-phase jury process is used: Yes/No selection followed by scoring model where jury members score artworks 1-5. A money-back guarantee is available for selection fee payments until the exhibition's official opening day.
