About This Call
Ley Lines is a juried call for entry that investigates the nature of contemporary drawing, attempting to connect the many varied conceptual and aesthetic approaches to drawing practiced by visual artists today. The call is open to all stylistic interpretations of the drawing discipline, including traditional drawings as well as those that challenge assumptions of media, imagery, format, and concept.
Eligibility: US residents at least 18 years of age. All work must be original and open to any media, whether experimental or traditional drawing material. Submit up to 3 pieces for a non-refundable entry fee of $30. Images must be formatted as JPEGs up to 5 MB, with a minimum of 1920 pixels on the longest side. Include the title, media, and date completed for each work. Submit entries through callforentry.org.
The exhibition will be held at Hammond Gallery at Jacksonville State University from October 1–29, 2015, and will be accompanied by a catalogue. A panel of professionals and academics with expertise in art and design will select works for inclusion. The best of show will receive a $500 award. Juror: Emily Sheehan, Professor of Fine Art and Drawing Area Head at Indiana University Southeast. Accepted works must be shipped at the artist's expense and ready for installation upon reception. Drop-off or shipping receivership dates: September 16–25. Opening reception: October 1, 5–7 PM. Artists are responsible for picking up or arranging shipping for work after the show closes. Hammond Hall Gallery does not receive a commission on sales; all sales are made directly between purchaser and artist. For questions, contact Ray Wetzel, Gallery Coordinator, at [email protected].
