Leigh Weimers Emerging Artists Awards

The Leigh Weimers Emerging Artists Awards, established by the Rotary Club of San Jose in memory of longtime Mercury News columnist and arts supporter Leigh Weimers, give unrestricted cash grants to emerging artists. The awards recognize outstanding artists residing in Santa Clara County in the visual arts, performing arts, written word, and music who have yet to be widely recognized for their talent, vision, and artistic accomplishments. Applicants must be residents of Santa Clara County only; the residency requirement is strictly observed.

Winners receive individual $1,000 cash prizes and are required to present their art to the Rotary Club of San Jose at one of its regular Wednesday luncheon meetings. Winners must attend two mandatory events at the Rotary San Jose Summit Center in downtown San Jose: a rehearsal on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 1:00pm–4:30pm (entire afternoon attendance required) and an awards luncheon and program on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 11:00am–1:30pm.

Entry fee is $10.00. Applicants may submit up to 20 total work samples, including up to 20 images, up to 3 audio files, and up to 3 video files. All applicants must create a CaFE account to apply.
