Leigh Weimers Emerging Artists 2023

The Leigh Weimers Emerging Artists Awards give unrestricted cash grants to artists who have shown extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits, but who have not enjoyed the recognition and rewards of being more widely known. Geographical preference is given to artists who live, work, perform, exhibit work, or students who attend school in Santa Clara County, CA.

The deadline for all submissions is 5:00pm June 30th. Entry fee is $10.00. Applicants must upload work samples to the CaFÉ website. Samples must not include links to external sources such as YouTube. Applications that do not include samples will not be judged. Work sample requirements: up to 20 images, up to 6 audio files, up to 5 video files, with a maximum of 20 total samples. Special submission requirements for writers include: screenplays and scripts (submit a video approximately 5 minutes in length of a staged or unstaged reading of a scene, along with a brief description and plot summary); novels (submit a short chapter and brief book summary); poems and short stories (submit 3-5 samples). Artists must respond to all required questions in the application.

The Awards Presentation Program will be held October 18th in the Hammer Theater in downtown San Jose. Winners are required to participate in the program and work with Artist committee members in preparation for the presentation. Complete details will be provided to winners. Any changes in venue or program will be announced and posted on the Leigh Weimers Emerging Artists website.
