About This Call
The Student Art Competition, now in its 26th year, enables community college students to compete with their peers across North America. The competition is open to League for Innovation Board Colleges only. The host for this year's competition is Maricopa County Community College District. All entries for the national competition must be submitted by April 25, 2012. Winners will be announced by June 15, 2012.
Students currently enrolled in fine or applied art classes at League member colleges are eligible to enter. Any type of artwork may be submitted, including three-dimensional pieces. A total of five works may be submitted for the national competition from each League board member college or district. Each entry must include the artist's name, college, college major, artwork title, medium, and actual size of the artwork. One view should be submitted for flat work; two views may be submitted for three-dimensional work. Digital files must be formatted as 1920 x 1920 pixel BASELINE Standard JPEG files under 1.8 MB in RGB color space (preferably sRGB). Each student artist is asked to submit a short written statement regarding their work, which will be published in the exhibition catalog.
Awards include: Best of Show $800, Second Place $350, Third Place $200, and Juror's Choice Award (3) at $100 each. A Certificate of Merit will recognize each student whose work was submitted to the national competition. All winning entries will be published in a League for Innovation student art catalog. By entering the competition, students grant the League for Innovation in the Community College and Maricopa Community Colleges permission to reproduce the images in print and digital forms.
