Le Salon des Artistes 2025

The Denison Arts Council presents Le Salon des Artistes, a juried art show premiering in downtown Denison, TX. Inspired by the historic Salon de Paris that began in 1667, this inaugural exhibition celebrates the intersection of creative expression and institutional recognition, providing a platform for both emerging and established artists. The competition includes awards totaling $2,500, with jurors Susan Roth Romans and Jordan Roth of Ro2 Art Gallery, Dallas, TX. A People's Choice Award with open voting will be held on Saturday, October 4.

The exhibition accepts 2-D or wall-mounted work (maximum 35 pounds), 3-D work (maximum 70 pounds), photography, jewelry, and mixed media. All work must be original, with no AI-generated art or pre-manufactured materials allowed. The application is free and requires 3 images, with up to 2 additional artworks for $10 each. Awards include Best of Show ($800), First Place ($500), Second Place ($400), Third Place ($300), Juror's/Council's Choice ($200), People's Choice ($150), and three Honorable Mentions ($50 each).

The show opens October 4 in conjunction with Denison Fall Fest and runs through November 15 at the 517 Gallery in downtown Denison. Expected visitation is 15,000, and the exhibition is free and open to the public. Show hours are 10:00-5:00 Wednesday-Saturday and 12:00-5:00 Sunday. The Denison Arts Council retains a 20% commission on works sold during the show. Artists must attend the private reception on October 3 and be present for the duration of the show.
