Layers-Material and Meaning

Layers-Material and Meaning is an online juried exhibition running March 3 – April 3, 2023. Site:Brooklyn is seeking works that engage with the relationship between layering and artmaking. Layering has been central to artistic practice from Titian through contemporary artists like Picasso and Barbara Kruger. Artists working across all mediums are encouraged to apply.

The exhibition is juried by Bridget Donlon, a contemporary art curator and arts administrator currently serving as Manager at the MTA Arts & Design in New York. Site:Brooklyn Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting contemporary artistic practice through open call exhibitions selected by expert jurors, solo artist features, and spotlights.

Eligibility and Requirements: Open to all artists 18 years of age or older working in any medium. Only original works may be submitted. Entry fee is $26.00 for three images, plus $10 for each additional image (3-10 images total; 0-3 videos accepted). Submission deadline is January 30, 2023 at 11:59 PM MT. Notification of acceptance will be sent February 7, 2023. All artwork must be priced for sale and remain available throughout the exhibition. Accepted artists retain 60% commission on all sales.
