Layered Light: Contemporary Pinhole and Zone Plate Photography

Light Art Space invites photographic artists to submit pinhole photographs to Layered Light. Images made with analog and digital processes are welcome. Content and subject are up to the photographer. This exhibition celebrates images made in the spirit of experimentation and play and is dedicated to the late Eric Renner.

Submissions must be pinhole images created in the last 5 years. Unique, custom-made pinhole cameras can be included as an entry with a print made from it. Work needs to arrive at the gallery ready to hang. Framing is encouraged but not required. Work can be sent matted or unmatted. Unmatted prints will be shown with magnets supplied by the gallery. Unconventional work is welcome. Artists must supply specific hanging devices and instructions if magnets are not appropriate. Work is due at Light Art Space by April 17th, 2021. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and must include a prepaid return shipping label.

The exhibition runs April 23–June 26, 2021, in the North Gallery at Light Art Space, located in the Downtown Historic Arts District in Silver City, New Mexico. The opening reception is April 24th, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Jurors are Nancy Dize Spencer and Scott McMahon. Awards: First Place $250, Second Place $150, Third Place $100 gift certificate from Freestyle Photographic Supplies. Entry fee is $35 for 1–5 images; students $15 with coupon code STUDENT. Notification of acceptance will be sent via email on March 26th. Up to 2 applications are allowed per artist. Submissions may include 1–5 total samples (up to 5 images and/or up to 3 videos).
