About This Call
Art in the Park is a fine art and fine craft event held in South Park (12th and Massachusetts) in downtown Lawrence, Kansas on September 13-14, 2025 (Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 10am-5pm). This Lawrence tradition dating back to 1964 is the Lawrence Art Guild's premier fundraising event, winning "Best Event" since 2019 with over 25,000 visitors expected. The two-day event features fifteen musical groups and food vendors, with accepted artists also invited to display up to two pieces in the Phoenix Gallery sponsored "Art in the Park Preview Show" during Lawrence's Final Friday gallery walk.
Eligible media includes graphics/printmaking, drawing, leather, metal, glass, painting, digital, pastels, photography, mixed media, ceramics, fiber media, jewelry, sculpture, and wood. Only originals of fine art and fine craft are eligible and must comprise the majority of displayed work. Artists must submit four good-quality images showing at least one work for each medium plus a booth setup example. The jury fee is $30 (non-refundable), with eleven cash prizes awarded based on overall quality judged on-site by a panel of local artists and arts organizations.
Artist benefits include hospitality with breakfast items Saturday and Sunday mornings, lunch both days, overnight security Friday and Saturday, and artist support throughout the event. Optional Friday setup begins September 12th at 3:30pm. The Emerging Artist Program offers first-time art fair participants use of half a 10'x10' tent shared with another emerging artist for a $10 jury fee and $80 booth fee plus 10% of gross sales (capped at $200). Artists must be present during the entire event and personally staff their booth space.
