LAPS Juried Membership Exhibition 2014

LAPS Juried Membership Exhibition 2014 is a national juried exhibition open to artists. The entry fee is $15.00. Submissions must include 1-3 images of artwork.

The exhibition runs from May 22 to July 3, 2014 at LA PRINT SPACE. The opening reception is scheduled for May 22, 2014 from 5:00-8:30 PM. Shipped and hand-delivered artworks arrive at the gallery May 13-16, 2014. Artwork will be taken down on July 3, 2014. Hand-delivered work can be picked up July 8-11, 2014 between 11 AM - 4 PM.

The juror is Judy Chan, an artist who received the National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artists Fellowship and holds an MFA in Printmaking from California State University, Long Beach. She has taught printmaking at CSULB and Long Beach City College, and her work is in the collections of the Long Beach Museum of Art and the Japanese American National Museum. Chan states: "Printmaking techniques are tools to create art that is unique to each artist. Old masters, like Rembrandt, made beautiful prints but those same printmaking techniques, and new methods and styles, should be used to express the world we live in today. I want the work to immediately capture my attention, whether it's a powerful visual statement or simply the beauty of the markmaking. There are so many variables today, in the printmaking genre, that it remains an exciting and beautiful art tool."
