LAPS 21st National Exhibition

The Los Angeles Printmaking Society, a national nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, California, is dedicated to the encouragement of printmaking and supportive of public and private collections of fine prints. The 21st National treats printmaking as an evolving set of ideas and encourages a wide range of approaches, encompassing traditional to nontraditional and experimental processes.

The exhibition will be held at California State University Northridge Art Galleries in Northridge, CA, with an opening reception on Saturday, October 26, 2013, and exhibition dates running through Saturday, December 14, 2013. The juror is Jack Rutberg, owner and director of Jack Rutberg Fine Arts in Los Angeles. The 20th National exhibition yielded over $4,000 in cash and purchase awards; a minimum of $3,000 is guaranteed for the 21st National. The juror will select one work from each selected artist through a blind jurying process.

Eligibility is open to all artists residing in the United States and Canada. Original works in all printmaking media are acceptable, including monotypes, monoprints, and three-dimensional works. Work must have been completed in the last three years. LAPS will not consider traditional photography, offset reproductions, or reproductions of art originally produced in other media. There are no size limitations. Entry fee is $35 for up to three works ($25 for LAPS members in good standing). Artists can submit up to three JPEG images. Accepted work will be insured while in the possession of CSUN Art Galleries. CSUN Art Galleries will receive a 20% commission on any works sold, and LAPS will receive a 5% commission for the LAPS Scholarship Fund. Non-LAPS members included in the exhibit will automatically receive one year of LAPS membership. A catalog will be produced and distributed to each included artist. Accepted artists must provide a 300 dpi digital image or photograph of the accepted work along with a maximum of four typed lines of biographical information by May 1, 2013. Jury notification deadline is February 1, 2013. Notification of jury results will be mailed April 22, 2013. Shipped work must be received by October 8, 2013; hand-delivered work by October 11, 2013. Work will be returned after the exhibition if return shipping costs are pre-paid.
