LANDSCAPE: SERENE AND SAVAGE (2024)

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original artwork to this exhibition. Landscapes are powerful physical and spiritual reminders of our view of the complex material world. Nature can be tranquil and comforting—beautiful gardens, captivating seascapes, glowing sunrises and sunsets, gentle rain showers, mighty trees and graceful clouds. Nature can also be ferocious and dangerous—raging thunderstorms, jagged mountain cliffs, uncontrollable floods, earthquake carnage and the hostile wilderness. Artists are invited to share personal interpretations and visions of landscape. Submissions can be serene or savage, intimate or vast, somber or bright, mysterious or lucid, realistic or imaginary. Human figures can be absent, dominant or diminutive. Images may include landscapes, seascapes, structures, architectural elements, individual flowers, trees, birds, animals, reflections and shadows. Any style is acceptable: representational, abstract, impressionist, cubist, expressionist, or a synthesis created by the artist. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, fiber, drawing and photography.

Submission is exclusively through CAFE (CallForEntry) at https://www.callforentry.org. Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 different images. Additional images may be included for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 total images. All images must be JPEG format, under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Artists should provide title, medium, size, price and year of completion. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for secure installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Artwork should not be larger than 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and not weigh more than 45 lbs. Sculpture should not be larger than 24 inches on any dimension. Photographs should be framed with black or white frames preferred; mats should be white or off-white only.

Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on or about July 17, 2024. Accepted artwork must arrive at the gallery no later than September 6, 2024. The exhibition runs September 11 through October 6, 2024. An "Art of Distinction" Award will be granted, featuring one selected artist in a special exhibit. A Director's Choice Award of $200 may be granted at the discretion of the Executive Director. One artist selected from all accepted works displayed at MVA Gallery during the past calendar year will be offered an exhibition opportunity in New York City. Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs both to and from the gallery. A prepaid return shipping label must be enclosed with all shipped work. The gallery retains 30% commission on sales; artists receive 70% of the final sale price.
