LANDSCAPE -- SERENE AND SAVAGE

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists and photographers of all levels to submit original 2D artwork to this exhibition. Landscapes are powerful physical and spiritual reminders of our view of the complex material world. Nature can be tranquil and comforting—beautiful gardens, picturesque seacoasts, glowing sunsets, gentle rain showers, mighty trees and graceful clouds. Nature can also be ferocious and dangerous—raging thunderstorms, jagged mountain cliffs, uncontrollable floods, earthquake carnage and the hostile wilderness. Artists are invited to share personal interpretations and visions of landscape. Submissions can be serene or savage, intimate or vast, somber or bright, mysterious or lucid, realistic or imaginary. Human figures can be absent, dominant or diminutive. Images may include structures and architectural elements, panoramic views, individual flowers, trees, birds and animals, reflections and shadows. Any style is acceptable: representational, abstract, impressionist, cubist, expressionist, or a synthesis created by the artist. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, fiber, drawing, and photography.

Submissions must be made through CAFE (CallForEntry). Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 different images. Additional images may be included for $5.00 each up to a total of 9 maximum. All images must be JPEG format, under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Artists should provide title, medium, size, price and year of completion. Only 2D artwork will be included. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for secure installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Pieces should not exceed 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and should not weigh more than 45 lbs. Photographs should be framed if a traditional presentation is desired, with black or white frames preferred. All art must remain in the gallery for the full duration of the exhibition.

Entry Deadline: August 2, 2022 (11:59 p.m. MDT). Notification to artists by August 6, 2022. Shipping deadline: August 29, 2022. Exhibition dates: September 7-30, 2022. Awards include First Prize $450, Second Prize $250, and Third Prize $100. One artist will be selected from all accepted artists displayed in MVA Gallery exhibits during the calendar year for an exhibition opportunity in New York City. The gallery is located in historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, one hour from New York City.
