About This Call
The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original artwork to this exhibition. The call seeks personal interpretations and visions of landscape, which can be serene or savage, intimate or vast, somber or bright, mysterious or lucid, realistic or imaginary. Submissions may depict landscapes and seascapes, and may include structures, architectural elements, individual flowers, trees, birds, animals, reflections, and shadows. Human figures can be absent, dominant, or diminutive. Any style is acceptable: representational, abstract, impressionist, cubist, expressionist, or a synthesis created by the artist. Accepted mediums include painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, ink, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography.
Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 total images. All images must be submitted as JPEG files under 5 MB with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Submissions must include title, medium, size, price, and year of completion. Artwork must be professionally finished and ready for secure installation with stretched wire attached to the back. Paintings may be framed or gallery wrapped. Artwork should not exceed 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and should not weigh more than 45 lbs. Sculpture should not exceed 28 inches on any dimension. Photographs should be framed if a traditional presentation is desired, preferably in black or white frames. Plexiglass is preferred over standard glass for shipped artwork.
Notification of acceptance or non-acceptance will be sent by email on or about March 10, 2026. Accepted artwork must arrive at the gallery no later than May 5, 2026. The exhibition runs May 9 - June 6, 2026. An "Art of Distinction" Award will be granted at most exhibitions, featuring one selected artist in a special exhibit. One artist accepted and displayed in an MVA Gallery exhibit during the past calendar year will be selected for an exhibition opportunity in New York City. A Director's Choice Award of $200 may be granted at the discretion of the Executive Director. Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs both to and from the gallery. A prepaid return shipping label must be enclosed with all shipped artwork. The MVA Gallery is located in historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, one hour from New York City.
