About This Call
The Lake Odessa Area Arts Commission invites applications for Art in the Park, a one-day annual fine arts and crafts festival held on the grounds of Lake Odessa's Village Park, located approximately midway between Grand Rapids and Lansing, Michigan on the shores of Jordan Lake. The show features 80+ unique fine art and craft booths, food booths, a children's craft area, and live musical entertainment.
Applications are juried for acceptance to ensure quality and maintain a varied selection of arts and crafts. All work must be original and handcrafted by the artist; limited use of manufactured items is allowed only if incidental to the final product. No food products, production line, imported, factory, kit, or commercially-produced items will be accepted. Booth spaces are 11' x 11' for single or 11' x 22' for double. Applicants must submit 3-5 images of completed artwork, 1 image of work in progress, and 1 image of booth display. Early applications (by May 1, 2015) cost $60 for 11' x 11' or $120 for 11' x 22', plus $15 jury fee. Late applications (by June 1, 2015) cost $85 or $170, plus $15 jury fee.
Art in the Park takes place Saturday, August 1, 2015, from 9 AM to 3 PM (rain or shine). Setup is July 31, 6-8 PM and August 1, 6-8 AM; setup must be completed by 8 AM. Tear-down must be completed by 5 PM. Artists must be present for the entire event and are responsible for their own property, tents, tables, chairs, and insurance. A new ParkPrize! competition in 2015 awards $1,000 to the artist receiving the highest number of public votes. Artist amenities include complimentary coffee, tea, juice, and pastries (7-9 a.m.), booth sitters, loading/unloading assistance, paid security Friday 8 PM to Saturday 6 AM, and event promotion. Exhibitors must collect and pay 6% Michigan state sales tax; no commission is required on sales.
