LABOR

LABOR is a virtual exhibition exploring the invisible job descriptions most often designated to those assigned female at birth. The exhibition examines various forms of women's work - from domestic labor like cooking, cleaning, and household management, to physical and bodily labor including menstrual cycles, pregnancy, and childbirth, to emotional labor such as managing family dynamics and navigating safety concerns, to sexual responsibility and reproductive health management, to the historical undervaluation of women's craft work and wage gaps in the workforce.

Hera Gallery is seeking 52 selections of visual art that speak to these themes. The exhibition will take place throughout 2026, with all selected works displayed virtually on heragallery.org. Each week, one featured artist and their work will be highlighted on the gallery's social media accounts. Virtual artist talks are planned as part of the programming.

The call is open to all international artists working in any media. Applicants must submit 3 high-quality images - either three images of one artwork or three different artworks. If accepted, additional images and artist statements will be requested. The submission fee is $15 for 3 images, with an additional $5 per extra image up to 10 total images.
