About This Call
Artrain, Inc. is seeking an artist or artist-led team to design and create a large-scale indoor mural to be commissioned by the Kroger Company and installed at its new store in White Lake, Michigan. The objective is to create a space that encourages community gathering and celebrates the spirit of the neighborhood. The final artwork will be a 12ft. 6 inch wide x 5ft. high mural installed on the wall of the indoor seating area in the new Kroger Store located at 10951 Highland Road, White Lake, MI.
This commission is open to all artists with priority given to artists living in or having an affiliation with Southeast Michigan, specifically the White Lake, MI area. There is no application fee to enter. To be considered, artists should submit a minimum of 4 examples of their work with a maximum of 8 examples allowed, an Artist Bio (one page maximum), a Resume or Work History (two page maximum), and information on the artist's or artist-led teams' connection to the White Lake area.
Finalists invited to submit specific proposals will receive an honorarium of $200 for their efforts and materials used to create the proposed design. The final selected artist will receive $7,500 in two payments, half upon signing a contract with Artrain, Inc. and the remainder upon delivering the artwork. $7,500 is the maximum project budget and is inclusive of all artist fees, and all expenses related to design development, including engineering, fabrication, travel, transportation, insurance and all other project related expenses. Installation of the artwork will be handled by the Kroger Company. The deadline for artwork completion is August 19, 2016, with installation scheduled for August 30, 2016.
