About This Call
The City of Kokomo invites artists to participate in a juried, on-loan, outdoor sculpture exhibit in downtown Kokomo, Indiana. Selected artists will enter into a 2-year Art Loan Agreement with the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance and will be awarded an honorarium of $2,000 per piece. The sculptures will be installed on concrete sculpture platforms or grassy areas in downtown Kokomo along the Kokomo Industrial Heritage Trail and the Walk of Excellence, with the exhibit on display from April 2021 through March 2023.
Artists must own the rights to completed artwork that is available for the full two-year exhibition period. Artwork must be ready to set on 8' x 8' cement pads with installation via welded tabs or similar easy-install methods. Because the exhibit is outdoors and open to the public, fragile or dangerous works will not be accepted. Artwork must be constructed of durable materials that will withstand year-round Indiana weather. Selected artists are responsible for transportation of artwork to and from the installation site, delivered exhibition-ready. The Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance and City of Kokomo will supervise installation and insure the artwork for the duration of the exhibit.
Artists may submit up to three sculptures for consideration, with each submission considered separately. Each submission must include a bio/resume describing experience and exhibition history, three images of the work (front, back, and detail), dimensions (HxWxD), and stated insurance value. Sculptures sitting on a base must be no larger than 8' x 8' at the base; sculptures resting on the ground may exceed these dimensions. Artists must be willing to enter into a 2-year Art Loan Agreement. A contract will be sent upon acceptance.
