About This Call
This exhibition is open to Salmagundi Jr/Scholarship artist members and invited former J/S members. Artists may submit up to 4 works that have not been previously shown at Salmagundi.
Submissions must include a one-page description (maximum 250 words) explaining how your two works reflect the theme "Known & Unknown," discussing the techniques you are developing and how your artistic practice has evolved between the works. Include your headshot and an artist QR code linking to your website or social media on this page. Additionally, submit a 15-30 second vertical (16:9 portrait) Artist Introduction video introducing yourself and describing your artistic practice. Upload the video to YouTube and include the link in your one-page description. This video will be looped on a monitor during the exhibition.
Artwork requirements: Outside frame dimensions may not exceed 36". Sculptures should be no more than 30" high and no more than 40 lbs. All works must be professionally framed with wire for hanging, or if framing is not applicable, must be professionally presentable for gallery display with appropriate mounting. If displaying under glass, use plexi-glass to avoid breakage. Submit high-quality JPEG images at least 1900 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Crop images to show only the artwork without matting, frames, or background.
Accepted work will remain in place during the exhibition and cannot be removed until it ends. Artists may deliver work in-person during receiving days or ship with an expected arrival one week before the exhibition opens. Return shipping labels must be included. Hangtags from the acceptance email must be printed and attached to each artwork before delivery. The club receives 30% of all sales; artists receive 70%.
Contact Stella Chang at [email protected] for questions about the prospectus, eligibility, artwork requirements, drop-off, pick-up, and sales.
