Knock, Knock: The Art of Wit and Whimsy

Knock, Knock: The Art of Wit and Whimsy invites viewers to step into a world where humor and imagination take center stage. This lighthearted and joyful exhibition celebrates the playful side of creativity, showcasing artwork that elicits laughter, sparks delight, and nudges the imagination in unexpected directions. From visual puns and satirical commentary to reimagined board games and comic-inspired illustrations, each piece reveals how art can be both clever and carefree. Featuring a vibrant mix of media—paintings, illustrations, sculptures, photography, and mixed-media works—the exhibit highlights artists who embrace levity without sacrificing meaning.

Application deadline is September 19 at 6 p.m. Acceptance notifications will be sent by the end of the day September 25. Accepted work must be delivered Tuesday, September 30, 10 a.m.–12 noon to the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater, 2400 First Street, Livermore. The exhibition runs October 2 through January 4, 2026. The reception is Saturday, October 25, 1–3 p.m. Artwork pickup is Tuesday, January 6, 2026, between 10 a.m.–noon. Entry fee is $35. Submit 1–3 images of your work. The gallery is open free to the public Thursday–Sundays 1–5 p.m. and to ticketed patrons during performances. Artists are responsible for transporting and insuring their work. The Host assumes no financial responsibility for artwork loss, damage, or theft.
