About This Call
This workshop at Joshua Tree Retreat Center in Yucca Valley, California focuses on professional practices including gallery representation, museum exhibitions, self-promotion, social media use, critical writing, presentation, and identifying and strategizing personal and professional goals.
The workshop takes place June 6-8, 2025. Check-in is Friday, June 6 at 3pm, with a welcome dinner at 5pm. Workshop sessions run Saturday-Sunday, June 7-8 from 9am-5pm, with optional morning and evening activities. Housing and daily breakfast and lunches are included. Participants are responsible for their own travel. Through private one-on-one sessions and group meetings, students will meet with guest professionals to build strategic plans for their individual practice.
Application deadline is February 10, 2025 at 5pm PST. Entry fee is $55. Submit 5-10 images (or up to 16 total samples including audio and video) representing your body of work. Sixteen participants will be selected by jury and notified by February 14, 2025. Accepted artists must pay tuition of $1,450 (housing and meals included) by May 1, 2025 to confirm their place. Participants must have a creative practice (curators welcome), speak and understand English, and be able to attend in person. International applicants are eligible.
