Kipaipai Workshop Joshua Tree 2022

Kipaipai, meaning "To Encourage and Inspire," is a professional development workshop focusing on gallery representation and museum exhibitions, self-promotion, social media strategies, critical writing, presentation skills, and personal/professional goal-setting.

The workshop runs Saturday-Sunday, December 10-11, 2022 from 9am-5pm, with optional morning and evening activities, at Joshua Tree Retreat Center in Yucca Valley. Check-in is Friday, December 9 at 3pm, with a Welcome event at 5pm. The retreat center is located in a rustic desert setting amongst joshua trees and high desert flora and fauna, with shared housing and public spaces. Participants will have one-on-one sessions and group meetings with a team of guest professionals. Tuition is $1,400 (housing and meals included). Participants are responsible for their own travel and expenses.

Application deadline is July 25, 2022 at 5pm PST. Entry fee is $50. Submit 5-10 images representing your body of work, and optionally up to 3 audio files and 3 video files. 16 participants will be selected by jury. Accepted artists will be notified by Wednesday, August 3, 2022 and must pay tuition by October 31, 2022 to confirm their place. This workshop is designed for English-speaking professional artists and makers looking to expand their studio practice.
