About This Call
This workshop at the Donkey Mill Art Center in Holualoa, Hawai'i focuses on professional practices in gallery representation and museum exhibitions, self-promotion, use of social media in promotion, critical writing, presentation, and identifying and strategizing personal and professional goals.
The workshop will take place June 2-4, 2023. Check-in for artists is Friday, June 2, 2023 after 3pm. The workshop runs Saturday-Sunday, June 3-4, 2023 from 9am-4pm, with optional morning and evening activities. Local fare is provided for daily lunches. Sixteen participants will be selected by a jury of professionals. Through private one-on-one sessions and group meetings, students will meet with a team of guest professionals.
Accepted artists will be notified by Friday, March 31, 2023. A deposit of $500 is due by April 15, 2023 to hold a spot, with full tuition of $900 due by May 1, 2023. The application deadline is March 28, 2023 at 5pm. Entry fee is $45.00. Applicants must speak and understand English, have a working practice in the visual arts (curators welcome), and submit a complete application including images and artist statement. Work sample requirements: minimum 5 images, maximum 10 images; audio and video are optional (maximum 3 each). Artists are responsible for their own travel and housing expenses.
