About This Call
This workshop at Willow Pond Retreat in Edna Valley, California focuses on professional practices including gallery representation, museum exhibitions, self-promotion, social media use, critical writing, presentation, and identifying personal and professional goals. The program will take place January 31 - February 2, 2025, with local fare provided for daily breakfast and lunch and optional morning and evening activities.
16 participants will be selected by a jury of professionals. Through private one-on-one sessions and group meetings, students will meet with guest professionals. The workshop runs Saturday - Sunday, February 1-2 from 9am - 4:30pm, with check-in on Friday, January 31 after 3pm for a 5pm welcome mixer. Optional activities are available at Willow Pond Retreat and surrounding vineyards.
Accepted artists will be notified by Friday, November 1, 2024. A $500 deposit is due by November 15, 2024 to hold a spot, with full tuition of $950 due by December 31, 2024. Artists are responsible for their own travel and housing expenses; special rates have been reserved at a local hotel. Entry fee is $55. Applicants must speak and understand English, have a working practice in the visual arts (curators welcome), and submit 5-10 images, 0-3 audio files, and 0-3 video files (5-16 total samples) along with a completed application and artist statement.
