About This Call
Kipaipai, meaning 'To Encourage or Inspire,' is a professional development program focused on best practices in gallery representation and museum exhibitions. The workshop fosters professional relationships, self-promotion, use of social media in promotion, relevant critical writing, presentation skills, and identifying and strategizing personal and professional goals.
16 participants will be selected by a jury of professionals for a two-day workshop. The workshop will run Saturday-Sunday, January 29-30, 2022 from 9am-4pm at the Ojai Retreat & Inn in Ojai, California, with optional morning and evening activities. Check-in for artists staying onsite is Friday, January 28, 2022 after 3pm. Through private one-on-one sessions and group meetings, participants will meet with guest professionals who will tailor strategies and goals specific to each artist's needs.
Accepted artists will be notified by Monday, November 22, 2021. Tuition is $1,300 (includes housing, breakfast, and lunch) or $850 (without housing). Tuition must be paid within 30 days of acceptance to hold a place. Artists are responsible for their own travel expenses. Entry fee is $35.00. Applicants must submit 5-10 images, and may submit up to 3 audio files and 3 video files (5-16 total samples). Applicants must speak and understand English, have a working practice in the visual arts (curators welcome), and be able to travel to Ojai and attend the workshop January 28-30, 2022.
