About This Call
Kipaipai, meaning 'To Encourage and Inspire,' is a professional development workshop focusing on gallery representation and museum exhibitions, self-promotion, use of social media in promotion, critical writing, presentation skills, and identifying and strategizing personal and professional goals. The workshop helps participants build their professional network through community and organic connections based on relationships and shared resources.
This is a virtual workshop running Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, April 16-18, 2021 from 12pm-4pm PST. Fourteen participants will be selected by jury. Accepted artists will be notified between February 9-14, 2021 and must pay tuition of $850 in advance to confirm their place. Through private one-on-one sessions and group meetings, participants will meet with guest professionals including Ray Beldner (art educator, artist, and co-founder of Start Up Art Fair), Robert Benitez (Museum of Art and History education specialist and curator), Kimberly Brooks (painter and founder of Huffington Post Arts Section), Betty Ann Brown (art historian, critic, and curator), Andi Campognone (curator and Museum Manager for City of Lancaster), Mika Cho (art educator and director of Ronald H. Silverman Fine Arts Gallery at Cal State LA), and Diane Costigan (executive and career coach).
Entry deadline is February 8, 2021. Application fee is $50. Work sample requirements: 5-10 images, 0-3 audio files, and 0-3 video files (5-10 total samples). Eligibility is national. Contact: [email protected]
