About This Call
Kipaipai, meaning 'To Encourage and Inspire,' is a professional development workshop focusing on gallery representation and museum exhibitions, self-promotion, social media marketing, critical writing, presentation skills, and personal/professional goal strategizing.
The workshop runs Saturday-Sunday, July 30-31, 2022 from 9am-5pm, with optional morning and evening activities. Check-in is Friday, July 29 at 3pm, with a Welcome event at 5pm. The workshop is held at Ralston White Retreat in Mill Valley, a rustic setting in a protected redwood forest with shared housing and public spaces. Sixteen participants will be selected by jury. Accepted artists will be notified by Wednesday, June 8, 2022 and must pay tuition of $1,400 (housing included) by July 1, 2022 to confirm their place. Participants are responsible for their own travel and expenses.
Application deadline is June 5, 2022 at 5pm PST. Entry fee is $45. Applicants must submit 5-10 images representing their body of work, and may optionally include up to 3 audio files and 5 video files. Through private one-on-one sessions and group meetings, participants will meet with guest professionals including art therapists, educators, curators, art historians, critics, marketing consultants, and gallery owners with expertise in professional practices for artists.
