About This Call
Kipaipai Fellows 2020 is an all-media curated exhibition running September 25 to November 8, 2020 at the Kahilu Theatre Galleries in Kamuela, Hawaii. The exhibition will be installed in the newly renovated Simperman and Hamakua Galleries. Museum Manager and Curator at the Lancaster Museum of Art and History, Andi Campognone, will curate the exhibit. Campognone states: "I have invited all of the Kipaipai Fellows, including faculty, that work or live in Hawai'i to participate in the Kahilu exhibit. I would like to see these artists go big, either in scale of work or in concept, to get the artists to stretch their practice. I want this show to be an additional exercise in the Kipaipai philosophy. I will be doing virtual studio visits with Hawai'i artists leading up to the exhibit."
Artwork must be ready for installation and professionally presented (2-D work must be framed or mounted with hanging hardware; 3-D work must have clear installation instructions). Artists are responsible for all shipping costs to and from the gallery and must provide a prepaid return shipping label, UPS or FedEx account number, or credit card information for return shipping. Artwork will be returned in the packaging in which it was received.
Work sample requirements: 2-10 images and 0-2 videos (minimum 2 total samples, maximum 12 total). Artwork arrival deadline: September 18, 2020. Images must be uploaded by September 23, 2020. The Hawai'i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts has scheduled an Acquisition Award Selection Committee visit to the exhibit on September 25, 2020. Location: Kahilu Theatre, 67-1186 Kamuela, HI 96743.
