Kingsville Main Street Community Art: Sculpture on Main

The Kingsville Main Street Advisory Board seeks sculptures to be placed in the historic downtown area of Kingsville, Texas as part of Kingsville Main Street Community Art. Approximately seven sculptures will be selected for the inaugural year, with a $1,000 honorarium for each selected work. Sculptures will be located along or near E. Kleberg Ave.

Sculptures must fit within a 5'x5' concrete pad with a maximum height of 15'. The sculpture footprint must be smaller than the pad and must be securely anchored with bolts provided by the artist. Any projections beyond the pad perimeter must occur at a minimum of 7' above ground. Works must be structurally safe for public display, resistant to theft, vandalism, and weathering, and require minimal maintenance. Sculptures will be on display for twelve months from the installation date of November 22, 2019. The pickup date is November 14, 2020.

Artists are responsible for insuring their artwork for the duration of the exhibit and must deliver their work and be present for installation on November 22, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. Artists must attend an art reception/event, complete and sign a Voluntary Artist Agreement with the City of Kingsville, provide maintenance instructions, and supply information for website, brochure, and promotional materials. Kingsville Main Street Community Art will handle all sales and retain a 20% commission for any artwork purchased during the exhibit period. Selection will be based on artistic merit, artistic context, maintainability, and suitability for public display. Submissions must include 1-6 images. Notification of selection will be provided on October 22, 2019.
