Kingsville Main Street Community Art: Sculpture on Main

The Kingsville Main Street Advisory Board seeks sculptures to be placed in the historic downtown area of Kingsville, Texas as part of Kingsville Main Street Community Art. Approximately seven sculptures will be selected, with a $1,000 honorarium for each selected work. The work will be located along or near E. Kleberg Ave.

Sculptures will be selected based on artistic merit, artistic context, maintainability, and suitability for public display. Preference will be given to regional themes and kid-friendly works. The sculpture footprint must be smaller than the 5'x5' concrete pad provided by the City, with a maximum height of 15'. Any projections beyond the pad perimeter must occur at a minimum of 7' above ground. Sculptures must be structurally safe for public display, resistant to theft, vandalism, and weathering, and require minimal maintenance. The artwork will be on display for twelve months from the installation date of November 20, 2020.

Selected artists must deliver their artwork and be present for installation on Friday, November 20, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. Artists are responsible for insuring their artwork for the duration of the exhibit and must secure the sculpture to the concrete pad with bolts provided by the artist. Artists must attend an art reception, complete a Voluntary Artist Agreement with the City, provide maintenance instructions, and supply information for website and promotional materials. Kingsville Main Street Community Art will handle all sales and retain a 20% commission for any artwork purchased during the exhibit period. Artwork pickup is scheduled for November 13, 2021.
