About This Call
This exhibition invites kinetic art that creates visible motion and movement in the gallery. The theme celebrates art and sculpture in motion—hangings, sculptures, mobiles, paintings, and other works that incorporate movement through air currents, electricity, or human assistance. All styles and aesthetics are considered, whether work is small and subtle or large and loud.
The Cultural Center has six galleries with spaces that can accommodate complete transformation with lighting and sound and large sculptural pieces. Proposals for programmatic content are also invited. The exhibition runs March 7–April 8, 2023, with an opening event on Thursday, March 9, 5–7pm.
Entry fee is $20 for the first entry and $5 for each additional entry (up to 20 total). Artists worldwide, both amateur and professional, are eligible. Work must have been produced within the last five years and be appropriate for all viewers. Submit 1–20 images (JPEG/JPG format, 1,200 pixels minimum on longest side, 5mb maximum). Audio and video samples are optional (up to 6 each). Submissions close February 10, 2023 at 11:59pm MST. Notification of acceptance will be sent by February 13, 2023. The Juror's Choice award is $1,000 cash. Work must be shipped to arrive by March 3, 2023, or dropped off locally March 6, 8am–noon. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels. The Center charges a 30% commission on sales for members and 40% for non-members. The Center's insurance does not cover damage during shipping; artists should insure their work.
