About This Call
The Lexington Art League presents the Kentucky Nude Biennial, a showcase of nude figurative art by Kentucky artists. This is the first year the exhibition is presented as a biennial; the Art League has hosted 'The Nude' exhibition for most of the past 30 years. The exhibition showcases contemporary nude figurative artworks by Kentucky visual artists and has grown to be one of the most anticipated exhibitions in the area.
Eligibility is open to Kentucky residents, professional artists and students, 18+ years of age. Individual artists and artist groups are acceptable. Any media is permitted, but subjects must explore the nude human form. Artworks must be produced since 2018 and have not been shown previously at the Art League. There is a limit of 5 artworks per artist. The submission fee is $40 per artist. Submissions should include an image list with title, media, year of production, size, and value; a one paragraph artist statement; and a one paragraph biography including name, address, length of residency in Kentucky, and geographic area of origin.
Artists are required to deliver artwork to the Lexington Art League, 209 Castlewood Drive, Lexington, KY 40505, on November 26th, 9am-5pm. Artwork pickup is January 5th, 9am-5pm. For artists shipping artwork, all shipping costs are the artist's responsibility; a return shipping label must be provided with shipped artworks. All accepted work must be ready to hang or display; poor framing or incomplete displays may be declined. An artist agreement will be sent upon acceptance and must be completed and returned before work will be accepted for exhibition. Artists may choose to make their work available for sale; the Lexington Art League manages all sales for a 30% commission of the sale price. The reception is December 6th, 5-9pm. Artist notifications will be sent November 8th.
